Genius Brands International has brought a number of new partners on board to expand the North American consumer products program for Llama Llama, its new animated preschool series that launches globally on Netflix today.

New licensing partners include Franco MFG (bedding), Cuddle Barn (animatronic plush toys), Intimo (sleepwear), Prime Party (online party supplies) and Myself Designs/Myself Belts (belts). Genius Brands is also collaborating with Kids Preferred on a line of Llama Llama plush. Initial products are expected to roll out later this year.

Based on the bestselling book series by Anna Dewdney, 15 x 30-minute Llama Llama follows childhood experiences shared by its titular character and his mother (who is voiced by actor Jennifer Garner). It is developed and produced by director Saul Blinkoff (Doc McStuffins), writer Joe Purdy (Arthur, Hey Arnold!) and producers Jane Startz (Ella Enchanted) and Andy Heyward (Inspector Gadget, The Real Ghostbusters). Dewdney’s longtime partner, Reed Duncan, also serves as producer.

Published by Penguin Young Readers, the Llama Llama books have sold 20 million units in print worldwide in eight different languages.
