PBS Distribution to rep Baby Genius brand

L.A.-based Genius Brands International has enlisted PBS Distribution as its home entertainment licensing partners for DVDs, CDs and digital products featuring its catalog of Baby Genius songs, videos and planned new content.

Across North America, PBS will rep the Baby Genius library of more than 500 songs and 125 music videos, encompassing classic nursery rhymes, learning songs and holiday songs for toddlers, as well as new content slated to launch in early 2015 at US retailers.

The agreement is expected to significantly increase distribution and retail sales for Baby Genius, which was re-introduced at market earlier this year with new character designs and digital products, including the launch of a kid-centric SVOD service, a deal with LeapFrog for its learning tablets, a renewed on-demand deal with Comcast, and the rollout of new music streaming service Baby Genius Jukebox.

Genius Brands International, which brought Stone Newman on-board in July to lead the company’s consumer products business, hopes to build on a successful 2013 that saw its DVD/CD line sell more than 10 million units at US retail, and its video titles generate more than 50 million downloads on Comcast’s Baby Boost channel.
